SUMMARY:DH Fellows Colloquium: Seanna Viechweg
DESCRIPTION:\nSave the date for a presentation by Seanna Viechweg on her
in-progress Scholars' Lab DH Fellowship. \n\nTitle: Folkloric Futures:
Designing a Digital Archive of Caribbean Speculative
Storytelling\n\nDescription: This project develops an interactive
Omeka-based digital archive that preserves and reimagines\nCaribbean
 folkloric figures—such as the soucouyant\, douen\, and
mermaid/farimaid—across\nliterature\, oral storytelling\, and visual art.
In collaboration with Caribbean artists and drawing on\nspeculative and
digital humanities approaches\, “Folkloric Futures” seeks to highlight
the living\nand evolving nature of Caribbean folklore. This presentation
will not only focus on the content of\n“Folklore Futures” but also the
process of designing a culturally-relevant project. By
 navigating\nquestions of metadata\, design\, and ethical representation\, I
hope to show how the choices behind\nbuilding an archive ultimately shape
the stories it can tell. Ultimately\, the project invites us to see\nhow
digital archives can spark new forms of teaching and collaboration in and
 beyond the\nclassroom\n\n\n
