Open scholarship in an academic setting refers to the potential that all products of research and educations are free to all, provided attribution is given when appropriate. There are many nuances to such a model, yet at least as regards federally funded research this is fast becoming a requirement.
A group from the Provost’s office and schools, library and Center for Open Science including deans and faculty have come together as the Open Scholarship Working Group (OSWG) to align university policy with this requirement and other efforts favoring open scholarship. After a brief context setting, the principals will answer questions regarding open scholarship, and introduce the university’s commitment as a first step in educating and engaging the community.
A light lunch will be provided.
