Increase Your Awareness of Life with a Visual Impairment
The lights go out. You are in an unfamiliar home and are hungry. How do you find the kitchen without tripping over children's and dog's toys, walking into a closed door, etc.?
Living with a visual impairment creates challenges and sometimes adaptations are required. This workshop, presented by Audrey Dannenberg, M.Ed., M.A., will improve your awareness of visual impairments. Ms. Dannenberg, owner of Vision Outreach, LLC, is a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist, Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, and formerly a Teacher of the Visually Impaired with over forty years of experience in the field.
Workshop participants will be asked to bring (1) a snack that requires some manipulation to open; and (2) a bandana/scarf/sleepshade that can be used to cover your eyes for some hands-on exercises.
Sponsored by Brenda Gunn and the Harrison/Small Accessibility Committee, this workshop is open to anyone in the Library.
Please note: The instructor prefers that masks be worn during this workshop.
