Women in Technology Speaker Series [Canceled]

Sorry that the speaker is not feeling well today, so we need to cancel today's event. We will reschedule it to another day once the speaker recovers.

The Women in Technology Speaker Series is part of the Women's Maker Program designed by the Robertson Media Center, Clemons Library. This speaker series features women speakers to discuss their journey to and in STEAM, as students and as professionals. In addition, speakers will share the roadblocks encountered, including those relating to gender dynamics and success for women in male dominated fields.  This event is online via zoom. Zoom link will be sent to registered participants prior to the event.

Join us for a conversation with Andrea Tejedor, the  Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Technology at New York Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District.

Dr. Tejedor will share her path to becoming an educational technologist and how her non-traditional journey paved the way to her current position as an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Technology. There were many twists and turns as she found her true passion experimenting with emerging technologies to help teachers and students engage in active learning. She will share how she used her experiences to develop a STEAM program in a school district for students in grades Pre-K - 8, contributed to the development of NYS Education Department Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards, and traveled to Brazil as a Fulbright Fellow to share her work. Dr. Tejedor will also share her passion for hack-a-thons and how these events informed her practice and approach to facilitating professional learning.

She will lead participants through a hands-on activity on the coding platform Vidcode, a start-up created by women and focused on engaging underrepresented populations in computer science. Sign up for an account at https://www.vidcode.com/ before the event.
