Opening Reception: Everyday People: Images of Blackness, 1700s-2000s

Opening Reception: Everyday People: Images of Blackness, 1700s-2000s

Join the curators to celebrate the opening of this Black History Month exhibition of select anonymous and familiar African-American images from the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library. Individually and collectively, these faces are of those whose ordinary or extraordinary achievements for themselves and their communities shaped a nation.

At 4:00pm, Prof. Ervin L. Jordan, Jr., Research Archivist in the Small Special Collections Library, and John Unsworth, University Librarian and Dean of Libraries, will provide a short gallery talk about the exhibition and the UVA Library's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Refreshments served in the First Gallery following the talk.

The Everyday People exhibition opens on Wednesday, January 30 and runs through April 20, 2019.
