Nancy Fried Foster, anthropologist and consultant to the Design Studies Project, will talk about participatory design, which engages faculty members and students in the design process as experts in their own work. She will review the objectives, methods, and desired outcomes of this approach and discuss the balance between responding to technological and other pressures while supporting the institution’s and its community members’ highest hopes and ideals.
