Advanced Data Wrangling with R, Part II
In the second of our three-part series we focus on working with dates, times and strings in R. Once we know how to format dates and times in R, we can do things like calculate elapsed time, average number of days, determine weekly totals, and so forth. Mastering the basics of string manipulation allows us to identify or extract certain patterns from text, which can be useful for deriving new variables or cleaning up data. After this workshop you’ll have the tools and practice necessary to work more effectively with time and text in your own data. Prerequisites: basic experience using R, or successful completion of our Intro to R workshop. Successful completion of Part 1 would also be helpful.
