3D printing allows rapid prototyping and creation of all sorts of objects and is growing to more accessible as 3D printers become better and cheaper. Turning 3D models into prints is also becoming easier with free modeling websites, and better 3D printing software.
Printing has its own constraints as a tool that are useful to know when deciding whether to turn a 3D model into a 3D print, and how to get the best results. In this workshop, you’ll see the basics of MakerBot Print, a 3D printing software, and the learn characteristics of good models to 3D Print. This includes why a print would fail and what a failed print looks like. Additionally, you will explore Thingverse.com and recommend models to be evaluated by the presenter who will explain why or why not they are good candidates for printing. You will leave with a better knowledge of 3D printing and more confidence in any prints you decide to make.
