Beatmaking, Level 1: RMC & WTJU Workshop

 

Discover the essentials of creating your own beats in this beginner‑friendly workshop. Participants will learn the core building blocks of beat making, including structure, stylistic elements, and how to approach sampling ethically while understanding basic copyright considerations. No prior experience with music production software is required—just bring your curiosity and creativity! 

This event is open to all and is sponsored by WTJU, the Robertson Media Center, and a Jefferson Trust Grant.
 

Presenter: Michael Moxham

Michael Moxham is a music producer, artist, and multi-discipline audio engineer. His work spans multiple genres and creative contexts, from recording and producing with artists to sound design for visual media and installation art, including projects with IX Art Park's Looking Glass exhibit. 

Michael’s practice centers on helping artists translate ideas into compelling sound—whether in the studio, on stage, or in immersive environments. At the Robertson Media Center, he leads workshops on professional voice recording and audio production, sharing practical techniques for capturing clear, expressive sound.
