Using Large Language Models Locally

Using Large Language Models Locally

In this workshop we will explore Large Language Models, which are used throughout Generative AI tools today. Instead of using a hosted service such as Copilot or ChatGPT, we will explore how to install and use these large language models locally on your own computer. We will cover tools to do this such as Ollama and LM Studio and talk about HuggingFace which is becoming an important resource for training and hosting large language models.

Our policy is that we do not record live workshops in order to encourage robust Q&A. However, you can always find the full workshop materials for all of our workshops at: https://library.virginia.edu/data/training/past-workshops which allows you to work through the material at your own pace. We also encourage you to reach out to the instructor at any time for a one-on-one consult, and for specific or general questions about any of the topics we cover.
