Local Large Language Models with Ollama

Local Large Language Models with Ollama

Generative AI, for better or worse, has rapidly become a part of our lives. Many users are familiar with tools like ChatGPT or CoPilot, but there is a lot of value and utility in installing Large Language Models (LLM) locally on your own computer and running them from your laptop. In this workshop we will cover some background of LLMs, talk about commonly used models available today, and install/run them using Ollama (and maybe some other tools too).

Our policy is that we do not record live workshops in order to encourage robust Q&A. However, you can always find the full workshop materials for all of our workshops at: https://library.virginia.edu/data/training/past-workshops which allows you to work through the material at your own pace. We also encourage you to reach out to the instructor at any time for a one-on-one consult, and for specific or general questions about any of the topics we cover.
