Join UVA Library for our summer professional development series on creating multicultural classroom libraries. Research shows that racial and gender bias play a role in identification of disabilities like ASD. Historically books featuring children with disabilities also followed this pattern of primarily depicting white male children. This session covers diversity within disability to highlight stories with girls, BIPOC characters, and a variety of mental and physical disabilities.
Enter our give-away! All participants will be entered into a raffle to win one of the children's books we feature in our session.
This series is co-sponsored by the UVA School of Education and Human Development.
