Safe Space Training for the Library

Alex Winkowski (they/them), Assistant Director of Multicultural Student Services, will be facilitating the training. Please see attached flyer to RSVP!

The Safe Space Program introduces concepts of sexual orientation, gender identity, statistics, facts and terminology. It also provides a window into the experiences LGBTQ+ people have coming out, including discrimination and legal issues. Upon completing the training, you will be a member of UVA’s Safe Space network, made up of University faculty, staff, and students who are committed to being allies to the entire LGBTQ+ community! All members have completed the the two-hour training that consists of general information about the LGBTQ+ population and how to be an ally. At the end of the training, participants are given a distinctive rainbow-colored sticker that signals their allyship and training. These stickers can be seen all around Grounds to visibly designate safe spaces!
