Students as Creators: Exploring Open Pedagogy

Ready to rethink the traditional assignment? Turn student work into lasting contributions.

The AAC&U has designated OER use as a high-impact teaching practice. This session explores the principles and practices of open pedagogy and how it can transform teaching and learning. We'll discuss renewable assignments that invite students to create shareable work instead of ‘disposable’ assignments seen only by an instructor, and look at examples of how faculty have used open pedagogy to boost student engagement and connect coursework to authentic learning.

We'll also cover practical considerations for getting started, including choosing appropriate platforms and addressing privacy and consent.
