Copyright & Open

Wondering how copyright shapes open work? See how it affects what you can reuse, share, and build on.

Led by Kiowa Hammons, UVA Library's Director of Copyright & Scholarly Communications Services, this session offers an introduction to copyright fundamentals and how they intersect with open practices and publication. We'll cover key concepts like ownership, licensing, and fair use, and discuss how these principles apply to sharing and reusing scholarly and educational materials. Time for questions and discussion will be available at the end of the session.

Whether you're already engaged in open work or simply curious about how copyright affects it, all are welcome to attend.
