Bartz v. Anthropic Ruling and Settlement Information Session

Authors! If you've published a book in the US there is still time to check if it was included in the Bartz v. Anthropic suit--and if it is, you may be entitled to monetary compensation under the tentative settlement!

For a bit of background: in September of 2025 a tentative settlement agreement was reached in the Bartz v. Anthropic case, after the court ruling that many of the books used by Anthropic for AI development were acquired unlawfully. With the ruling on the settlement in April 2026, it is important that authors verify if their published works are included in the settlement, and to decide if they wish to pursue a claim for payment.

On March 11th, 2026 please join Kiowa Hammons, Director of Copyright & Scholarly Communication Services at Shannon Library, for an information session about the Bartz v. Anthropic case and tips on how to navigate the settlement database and claims form.
