Join us to celebrate the opening of Anne Spencer: I Am Here! exhibition in the Main Gallery of the Small Special Collections Library. Celebrating the life and legacy of Anne Spencer—Harlem Renaissance poet; civil rights activist; librarian and educator; avid reader and prolific writer. Her devotion to her craft, family, community, garden, and home of over seven decades (situated on Pierce Street in Lynchburg, VA) shines through her archive, housed here at the University of Virginia Library.
The exhibition is in partnership with the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum, a Virginia Historic Landmark, and will be on display in the Main Gallery of the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library through June 14, 2025.
