AFK Meditative Ukulele Strum Session

A meditative zone can be achieved through slow, consistent, and repetitive strumming patterns combined with mindful breathing and physical awareness of a ukulele's vibrations. Come strum with us during one of the library's ukulele meditation sessions geared toward players and non-players of the instrument.

If you have your own ukulele, please bring it to the strum session.
If you don't have your own ukulele, no worries! We will have a limited supply of instruments on hand. Simply let us know on the registration form that you will need us to provide one for you.

This event is generously supported by the UVA Arts Council. It is one of a series of events that will be held this academic year, as part of the Library's 2026-2027 arts initiative, AFK: Away From Keyboard, which urges students, the UVA community, and Charlottesville to experiment with creating intentional connections between body and mind. We want to know: what happens to the way we perceive, learn, make, and research when we're AFK? How does tuning into our bodies deepen and expand research? Less blue light; more insight.
