You’ve been writing relatively short essays based on a few sources (provided by the professors, or asked to “find three scholarly articles”), but now you’re being asked to develop a much longer paper that throws the door wide open and requires much more research. Where do you begin? How do you make sense of the library and its web pages? How to identify the best sources to use for your project? How do you organize all this information?
This workshop is designed primarily for undergraduates who are new to advanced research (or at least advanced research at the U.Va. Library), to navigating the library’s web pages as well as physical resources, to identifying and evaluating relevant sources for a project, and to keeping track of the materials found. We will work through an example topic, but students are welcome to bring ideas based on their own research.
