First Folio! Family Day

The University of Virginia will be hosting the Folger Library's travelling exhibit of one of Shakespeare's First Folios for the month of October. To celebrate, the UVA English and Drama Departments and Library, in collaboration with the American Shakespeare Center, will host free, fun, and educational activities for both children and adults at the Special Collections Library on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Make stage blood and other props! Try writing with a quill! Learn to insult Shakespeare style! Participate in dynamic workshops on wordplay and on the relationship between text and performance! Tour the Library's exhibition, which includes both the Folger Folio and an informative display of UVA's own Shakespeare holdings! Enter raffles to win tickets to the Drama Department's production of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors or to one of the American Shakespeare Center's performances in Staunton, VA! At 2 p.m., a matinee performance of The Comedy of Errors in Culbreth Theater will feature special pricing for families.
