Welcome to the video studio. It’s located in the Robertson Media Center, on the third floor of Clemons Library. This space facilitates students’ exploration of video as an expressive medium for critical and creative engagement across the disciplines. It is open to current UVA students, faculty, and staff. Whether you have video production experience or not, you are welcome to use the space after you complete the required training. Projects with a focus on teaching, learning, research, and scholarship will receive priority.

We have a wide variety of professional level equipment within the video studio including adjustable lighting, a Canon XF300 professional level camera, a teleprompter, audio equipment, four different backdrops, and a number of arrangeable props. This is a good place for producing professional looking interviews, shooting with the green screen, and recording class presentations.

Here are the three steps to follow in order to access the video studio.

Step1: Complete training

Please read this document (link) carefully to learn how to get trained.

Note: If you have been trained in the past, you don’t have to go through our new training again. However, since we have updated our training process and video studio room policy, we ask you to watch two additional videos (Video 1 and Video 8) in order to gain access to the room.

Step 2: Book the video studio

After you complete your training, you can reserve the room on this page. During the reservation process, you are required to fill out an online form.  You will need to provide your basic information and the intended purpose of use of the studio. In order to ensure fair access to the room, you can only reserve the space for a maximum of three hours a day.

Your reservation will be reviewed by our staff and you will receive a notification of our decision shortly thereafter.

Step 3: Check out room key

To access the room, you will need to ask our consultants at the RMC desk on the third floor of Clemons Library to check out the room key. After you finish, you will return your key to the RMC desk and our consultants will check to verify that the room was reset and cleaned.
